Till we meet again

Travelled all over British Columbia and then headed for Vancouver and the States. When we got to Hope, BC we seen the famous "Hope slide" where half the mountain slid away back in 1965 and killed a few people. Then we went to the Minter Gardens and all you can say is "WOW". 32 acres and 8 full time gardeners of flowers and beautiful designs. This is a must see for anyone in that area. We then crossed the border which went really smooth. Very tight quarters for the coach but we made it okay. Went to a campground in Ferndale, Wa. - the Cedars. Very nice and from there we went to Bellingham and took a cruise boat to Victoria and the world famous Butchart Gardens. Well I didn't think you could top the Minter gardens but that does - it is a double WOW. See the picture below. It is 50 acres that started out as a cement plant and then the people changed it to there personal garden. Unbelievable. From there we have been all over western Washington, went to see the famous Crittenden ship locks, took a tour of the Boeing plant in Everett where they are building the 777 in the largest building in the world. 98 acres under one roof- so big that it developed its own weather until boeing corrected that. Our friends went back to N. Dak. so we're left to ourselves. Went to a beautiful little alpine town of Leavenworth, Wa. - a definage must see if your in the area a Wenatchee. Spent a day in the Museum of flight in Seattle, went to the space needle and yesterday drove around the Olympic mountains and Port Angeles - had a great time. Having a quiet day today, getting some home things done and tomorrow we leave for Oregon. Will try to do a better job of keeping the updates coming.

 Been a while

Sorry about that. Didn't think there would be much interest in the stuff we did back home. Left for Canada on the 8th of July - some friends from N. Dak. joined us for the trip. We headed out from Richardton, N.D. and went to Williston got to see the upper part of the badlands, that was nice - then went across the highline or Hwy 2 on the top of Montana. A little side trip down to Fort Benton got us up close and personal with the harvest going on. The people who used to combine for our friends were there and I got to ride along for awhile on a brand new John Deere 32 ft. combine cutting winter wheat that was running about 85 bushels to the acre. That was a ball, been a many a year since I was on a combine. Special thanks to our friends for putting that together. We continued on across Montana all the way to the top western corner, a little town of Eureka and crossed the border there. Drove up to Radium Hot Springs and parked the motorhomes in a beautiful campground there - Radium Resort - if you ever get that way, use it, it is outstanding. From there we took our day trips. Went over to Banff Natl. Park and saw the devistation of a recent forest fire, how sad. The mountains were still huge but not to pretty. Then we went up to Jasper Natl. Park. The mountains there are unbelievable - we were all over the area - did not go over to Calgary though - will save that for later.

 Montana

Well folks on about the 2nd of June we headed for Polson, Montana. We used to live there back in the late 70's. We have maintained several friendships there over the years. Had to drive thru construction on 93 going north to Polson, quite a mess, but it was worth it - coming over the hill into Polson has to be one of the most beautiful scenes the eye can behold. Wow, have things changed here - property has gone completely insane, ex. 12 acres that were for sale in 1990 for 70K is now priced at 1.2 million. There is a monster house going up overlooking the valley - just 17,000 sq. ft. Supposed to be a summer house. We visited friends and went to Glacier Park. The going to the sun road was closed so we had to go in part ways from the west and then we decided to go in from the east as well. A 2 hour trip to the east side, but my God was it ever worth it. All in all a beautiful day!!!!!!!!!!! It has been raining a lot since we got here, about 3 inches in 2 weeks, but hey it's sure green. Leaving in a couple of days for Spokane, Wa. to visit my cousin- will update later.

 The folks.

Well we spent some time with our parents, very sad situation. Lyn's Mom is doing okay, but her Dad is failing quickly in his mind. His body is doing remarkably well for a 90 year old man. My mom is getting quite forgetful and probably should be thinking about going into a place that could help her a little bit, but she just refuses to give up her independence. Still in her own house and taking care of it, even does a little gardening.

Went to Bismarck to take our motorhome in to have the Aqua-Hot fixed, these features are really nice when they work, but damn expensive when they don't. Stayed with my brother and our gals decided it would be fun to spend our anniversaries together, seeing as it's been about 20 years since we've done that. Went to Medora, N. Dak. and took in the musical and Teddy Roosevelt Nat. Park along with a few other things. Had a great time and they celebrated 39 years and we 38 years, both on the 1st of June.

Left for Montana and have now arrived in Polson, Mt. which is where we used to live about 21 years ago. It sure has changed and seems so much more overgrown than we remembered it. Foliage wise that is. Although the town has definately grown as well, beautiful place. Definately someplace you want to see.

Well we'll check in again in a couple days.
